In the construction of a building the foundation is the first consideration.
Unique artists toss their works before the masses and see if the imitators construct the foundation with their subtle quirks, lifting the original work skyward for adoration and eventual worship.

I'm not sure if there are unique artists. Who are you thinking of?
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts were Pollack when he did the drip paintings, Picasso's cubism, Weston's nudes, etc....when someone copies or nearly copies what the art commmunity calls the masters it creates a base of sorts and pushes the master's work higher and higher...does this make sense?
